Welcome to Barkhill Group, a dynamic and ever-evolving enterprise with roots that date back to 2005. Our journey began in the picturesque city of Glamsbjerg on the island of Fyn, Denmark, where our name, "Barkhill," is a Danglish translation of the city’s name. What started as a small venture has grown into a multi-faceted international group, with diverse interests ranging from food production to logistics, defense, and renewable energy.
The Beginning: A Danish Dream in Romania
The story of Barkhill began when our founder arrived in Romania in 2005, initially for a project with Carlsberg Romania to improve water treatment systems. After the successful completion of this venture, which was later sold to Peter Mads Clausen of Danfoss, an idea was born—one that many Danes abroad have shared: the humble hotdog. Inspired by Copenhagen’s famed street food, our founder sought to bring high-quality Tulip sausages and baguette-style buns to Bucharest, with a vision to open 20 outlets.
However, due to challenging regulations at the time, the focus soon shifted. After visiting the state-of-the-art TITAN factory, which was producing buns for McDonald's, a new opportunity presented itself: exporting bakery products, specifically buns, to Nordic countries.
Pioneering in the Food Industry
Barkhill quickly established itself as a key player in the Nordic food market, with our first major client being Dagrofa (now known as FoodService Denmark). We pioneered the private label market by launching hamburger buns, followed by hotdog buns, setting the stage for more products in the wholesale market.
We didn’t stop there. At the request of FoodService Denmark, we developed a salad mayonnaise to rival Kraft's, launching Barkhill Salad Mayonnaise.
From there, we expanded rapidly, introducing over 20 products and becoming a trusted supplier for both retail and wholesale clients. In January 2018, we proudly became the private label supplier for Coop Nordic, serving over 4,000 stores across the region.
Adapting to Global Needs: PPE and Beyond
In March 2020, during the early stages of the global COVID-19 pandemic, our founder quickly recognized the growing demand for personal protective equipment (PPE). With our strong network, we pivoted to supply the market with face masks produced by Romanian manufacturers, helping to address critical shortages. This led to the creation of United Medical Supply A/S, and by the end of 2020, we had secured a significant contract with the Danish government to supply PPE.
In 2021, Barkhill Group made a strategic move into the real estate sector with the launch of Barkhill Invest SRL, focusing on high-value property development. This venture quickly became a success, and by the end of the year, it was sold to a new owner, marking a profitable exit for Barkhill. This experience not only strengthened our position in the real estate market but also opened doors for further expansion into other industries.
Following this success, Barkhill identified significant opportunities in the shipping industry, specifically in freight forwarding and maritime logistics. We recognized the growing global demand for efficient shipping solutions, particularly in industries related to defense, energy, and industrial goods. Our shipping operations focus on:
This expansion into shipping has allowed Barkhill to diversify its portfolio and establish a strong presence in a rapidly growing sector, where logistical efficiency and reliability are paramount.

Transitioning to Energy
By 2023, Barkhill Group set its sights on the energy sector, driven by the global shift towards sustainability and renewable resources. Recognizing the need for cleaner energy solutions, we began working on several projects aimed at contributing to the global energy transition.
Our energy ventures are focused on:
Renewable Energy Investments: We are exploring partnerships in wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources to support global decarbonization efforts. Our goal is to help reduce dependency on fossil fuels while providing reliable, clean energy alternatives.
Energy Infrastructure Development: Barkhill is actively involved in projects that aim to improve energy distribution and storage, including investments in smart grid technology and battery storage systems. These efforts will help to create a more resilient and efficient energy network.
Sustainable Manufacturing: We are integrating energy-efficient processes into our own operations, such as our large-scale noodle factory, which is designed to incorporate cutting-edge energy-saving technologies. This project represents our commitment to sustainability in both the food production and energy sectors.
By expanding into the energy industry, Barkhill Group aims to play a critical role in the shift toward a greener future. Our projects are not only focused on meeting current energy demands but also on fostering long-term sustainability and innovation in the industry.
As part of our commitment to becoming producers, we made the strategic decision to invest in building Europe’s largest noodle factory—a €30 million project expected to begin production by 2026. Located on 100 hectares of land in Brăila, Romania, the factory will not only supply the European market but will also create opportunities for other food production companies to join us in this industrial park.
Brăila’s proximity to the Ukrainian border makes it an ideal hub for producing and exporting goods, particularly those sourced from Ukraine.
A New Chapter: Logistics and Defense
2024 marks another transformative year for Barkhill Group, as we expand into logistics, offering freight forwarding services for dangerous goods and other cargo.
In parallel, emerged as a cornerstone of our strategic growth. We are dedicated to supporting governments across Europe by securing critical resources for national defense.
With a focus on strategic procurement and contract negotiation, and in the process of establishing a cutting-edge ammunition factory. This facility will set new standards for safety, quality, and efficiency, contributing to a safer and more secure Europe.
